The Australasian Postgraduate Philosophy Conference (APPC) is an annual conference that provides a unique opportunity for postgraduate philosophy students to present their work, debate their ideas, receive feedback from peers, and find collaborators across institutions. We welcome submissions from Australasian and international postgraduate students (including honours) and early-career researchers who received their doctorate within the last two years.

We are delighted to announce that the APPC 2025 will be held on 11-12 December in Hobart, Tasmania. The conference will be in hybrid form.

Overview

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS NOW OPEN

We are currently accepting abstracts. Authors should submit an abstract of 300–500 words (excluding references) outlining the main argument they will present in a 20-minute talk, which may be on any topic within philosophy. Submissions for hybrid talks will be accepted, but places are relatively limited. There may also be scope for a limited number of speakers to present a 40-minute talk (in person); if you would like to be considered for this, please say so in your application.

The call for abstracts closes at 11:59pm on 31 August, 2025.

The Australasian Association of Philosophy has provided funds to offset travel costs for a limited number of participants. If you are interested in, and need, funds to aid your travel to Hobart, please mention this when submitting your abstract.

There is an official registration fee of $25 per accepted speaker. The entirety of this income is put towards the necessary costs associated with running the conference.

Hobart combines the welcoming atmosphere of a remote town with the cultural richness of a modern capital, offering ample restaurants, markets, museums, distilleries, and historical sites.
